Hey B&A (ooh, that rhymed!) D'you miss me? Oh, and What're you currently reading?

AND the rumors are correct! I'm coming back from my long absence. :)

Really though, what are you reading? I'm looking for something to read, something with a bit of fantasy, sci-fi, and romance. Adventure wouldn't hurt either.

P.S.: And have you guys heard of Doctor Who?

Update:

@everyone- Hello, and nice to meet all.

@ Erica-Doctor who is the most hilarious, genius show ever. Epic. You should check it out. It even pwns Glee. Your probably giving me a O.O look right about now. :)

@Kay

I so cried. No, bawled. No better actor for Doctor Who. Time traveler's wife seems so go, must go buy that one.

@Billet

Hahaha, yes. Of course you missed me.

Doctor who is hilarious, that's part of the point. ;)

And wow, you read a lot of things at once. The Shack is an alright book.

Hello, Loki! I don't believe we've had the pleasure of being acquaintanced.

    *Extends virtual hand through computer*

I'm Apple Frost. Very pleased to meet you.

    For the book recommendations:

*I saw in your profile that you're about to read Going Bovine (fantastic book, by the way). Have you read Libba Bray's other series, Gemma Doyle Trilogy? Great books.

*Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. One of the most adventurous books I've ever read. Nonstop action throughout the entire book. Couldn't put it down.

*A Certain Slant of Light by Laura Whitcomb. One of the most beautifully written, thought-provoking books that I've ever had the pleasure of reading. Romance, but not annoyingly sappy.

*The Summoning by Kelley Armstrong. Supernatural with a bit of romance (mostly in the second book).

*Maximum Ride by James Patterson. Another nonstop action-y book. Very addicting.

*Gilda Joyce by Jennifer Allison. Mystery/supernatural. Quirky, lovable main character.

*Lovely Bones. Fantastic, but I've never cried so much EVER, let alone for a book. But I highly recommend it.

*Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stewart. Kids' book, but a great read. I recommend it to anyone who will listen to an hour long rant on the book's greatness.

(Oops! You asked what we're reading, not for a bunch of books. Oh well, those are all fantastic. Right now I'm reading Pride and Prejudice and Once a Witch, and rereading a Certian Slant of Light.)

    I remember you, Loki! :D

Not that well, though, I can just remember you giving lots of great answers and being a massive Harry Potter fan, nothing too specific. Haha, I guess I'll get to know you better now that you've returned. You know, someone should write a book based on everything that happens in the B&A community (...that's ironic - writing a book about a Books&Authors section) and then turn it into some massive over-dramatic soap show. It would be epic. I hate soap shows, but they make me laugh by head off because they're just ridiculous. And at the sneak peek of the new episode it would be like a deep dark voice saying ''...and who's returned to Beeandayeville? *you bursting through door* ''I'm Homeeeeeee!''* Is Loki home for good? And how will the rest of B&A react after her mysterious disappearance for months without any communication? Find out next week on B&A Watch...''

    Wow O__o

    I'm quite very probably insane.

*Clears throat*... ANYWAY. At the moment I'm reading Emma by Jane Austen. I've been reading that book forever! I just haven't read very much at all these holidays. I've been really busy, and too tired to read. Bring on the disapproving looks from my B&A comrades. It's a really good book though.

    Book suggestions for yourself:

    Wildwood Dancing - Juliet Marillier

    Cybele's Secret - Juliet Marillier

    Janna Mysteries - Felicity Pulman

    Ice Station - Matthew Reilly

Rowan of Rin Series - Emily Rodda

    Inheritance Cycle - Christopher Paolini

The Scarlet Pimpernel - Baroness Orczy

    Inkheart Trilogy - Cornelia Funke

The Chronicles of Narnia - C.S Lewis

PS: I've *heard* of Doctor Who. I've no idea what it's actually about and have never seen it.

    Hi!!!!!

Right now, I'm reading "Someday This Pain Will Be Useful To You" by Peter Cameron. I'm still in the "beginning of the book stage", but it seems promising. Sorry, but I can't think of any fantasy to recommend at the moment. I'm reading more average-kids-having-odd-adventures type books these days.

Yes, I've heard of Doctor Who. I've never seen an episode, because I wouldn't know what channel to watch it on here (in the U.S.), but I've heard of it. Mostly from UK youtubers like Nerimon and charlieisscoollike (both of which are in a Doctor Who band called Chameleon Circuit).

    Welcome Back.

I'm reading "Rebecca" by Daphne Du Maurier

I really like it so far but it isn't what you're looking for if you are set on sci-fi/fantasy. Try "Dead Until Dark" by Charlaine Harris (fantasy/romance).

PS Doctor Who is amazing and is rivaled only by Lost for my complete devotion. There was alot of build up for Tennant's departure so I'm kind of glad that we can proceed with the new Doctor now even though I did like Tennant. I am very curious about who will be the new Doctor's companion.

Haahahaha no. I have you on Facebook :)

    Otherwise, welcome back!!

(Actually, I've been pretty absent from this section too)

I'm reading The Year of the Flood by Margaret Atwood, which caused me to put The Shack by Paul Young on hiatus, because I have to finish Atwood before I go back to school.

I'm also reading The Alchemist again, but I've put it down for a bit and I need to get around to completing The Justice Game (I forget who by) and In The Skin of a Lion (some Canadian author) for school.

    Blahblahblah?

P.S: Dr. Who is ridiculous. Seriously. I can't watch it without laughing.

I'm currently reading "Shadow Kiss" out of the Vampire Academy series :) Not sure if you're into vampires and that whole deal but this series had me hooked as soon as I read the first page :) To be honest, I was against reading anything about vampires but everytime I went to the bookstore the books stood out to me.

My boyfriend. He's meant to be coming over but he has decided to go out with his mates so I will have to see him later. Grrrr. I will give him a kiss and a hug when he gets here and something else tomorrow. Ha ha.

Hey Loki! Good to see you again. Yes, I did miss you:-)

I'm currently reading "Twenties Girl" by Sophie Kinsella. Umm ... I can't really think of any suggestions for you, so I'll have to edit this later on.

Yes, I've heard of Doctor Who. My all time favourite Doctor Who companion was Ace.

  • I am currently reading from my local Library Ill Met By Moonlight, by Mercedes Lackey and Roberta Gillis.

    hello stranger ;)

i'm currently reading 'Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell' by Susanna Clarke... and i feel like recommending to random people so there you go.. read it, it's dead good so far... thoroughly recommend it :)

PS.- Doctor Who both scared me senseless back in the early 80's and never let me look at muesli the same way ever again... and also produced one of the greatest pieces of music i've ever heard (the BBC Radiophonic Workshop original ;)
