corn syrup vs corn oil?

I found a recipe online that I liked for fudge, http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/cho... and thinking I could remember everything, I went to the store and picked up corn oil and not corn syrup. Will using the oil hurt my fudge?

    it is not the same thing at all. corn syrup is the sugar. gotta go back to the store. but maybe with the ingredients you did buy you could find a different recipe for fudge. Ive never used corn syrup in my fudge making. hope this helped!

    You can't use the corn oil in the recipe...but since it's only 1 tablespoon of corn syrup and it's not the only sugar in the recipe, you can probably add an extra tablespoon of liquid and one extra tablespoon of sugar, and then leave out the corn syrup. You could also substitute with pancake syrup, it's thinner but it wouldn't matter much.

    Yes. Corn Oil is like vegetable oil.

    Corn SYRUP is a concentration of the sugars that naturally occur in corn. It becomes a very thick sweet syrup. Its often used in replace of sugar because it can dissolve in cold water and is cheap.

    Corn oil, well isn't sweet at all.

    IF, you have sugar you might be able to get away with that.

    Yes, your fudge will not harden or be sweet enough. Sorry...two totally different things.

    One is sugar and one is oil, what do you think? Do you think they are interchangeable because they both have corn in the name? How about just adding corn on the cob?
