Why have things been so bad since the Democrats took over Congress in 2006? Where's the change they promised?

The President doesn't have near the power that Congress has, yet when the Democrats took over Congress in 2006 they have done nothing except avoid responsibility and just keep blaming Bush. Why can't congress get their act together? - An Independent

    If things are not getting any better than that is the true measure of how badly the republican/conservatives "F" things up in this country. It is no coincidence that the nation was on the verge of sliding into oblivion under their leadership, and I use the term loosely. As far as getting their act together. One side is trying to solve the problems that face the nation the other side is sabotaging

    all efforts. When the country is drowning, you don't load up the lifeguards with tons of chains and then tell them to do their jobs. And when they fail, use that failure to say "see they are the problem, government is not the answer". Liberal/Democrats cannot solve all of the problems when the republicans/conservatives are doing all that they can to stop them. As an independent,that party may get it's chance to govern but I would count on any help from the right. I think that you will just see more of what the liberals have to deal with NOW.

    Nancy Pelosi has suggested, "i'm attempting to save the planet," as to why she can no longer enable for a vote on enjoyed ones oil drilling. Democrats in the Senate have indicated they're pleased with $10 a gallon gas to guard from enjoyed ones oil drilling. while gas costs are $10 a gallon, prosperous human beings can arise with the money for to pay, the common individual won'tcontinual plenty. sounds like the approach of the Democrat Congress favors prosperous human beings.

    the democrats took control of congress in 2007, not 2006. by that time, the seeds of destruction were already sown. america saw this fact, and that's why they ousted the GOP. median income in america had been declining every year since 2002. only contarded fools didn't see it coming... eventually, the house of cards the GOP built was going to collapse.

    this is what happens when too much wealth is allowed to concentrate into too few hands. i'm not being a marxist ideologue here... this is a simple fact of the laws of economics.

    I'm not really sure why the 2006 congress went along with what ever Bush, Dick Cheney, Colin Powell, and Conzie Rice said.

    The Democrats do not have a large majority so they haven't exactly taken over Congress. The Republicans have done everything they can do to stop anything from happening. They are all a bunch of whining children in the sandbox. Time to send them all home.

    That is the truth, they can blame Bush all they want but the honest truth is it all came crumbling down when the Dems took controll of congress in 2006.

    Exactly. All of our nation's woes started when we elected liberals into congress in 2006. Prior to their stranglehold on our government and our way of life we had:

    * Stock market setting record highs.

    * Unemployment below 5%.

    * Mergers up

    * Aquisitions up

    * Taxes down but tax revenue up due to higher profits

    * Economy growing at it's fastest rate in over 25 years

    Since then we've seen TRILLIONS in lost home equity, more than 50% of all Americans owe more on their house than it's worth, double digit unemployment, billions spent on corporate bailouts, trillions spent on a stimulus plan that has shown no major positive results, our deficit has been doubled in less than a year, and more troops are being sent to fight and die in a war that liberals protested just 2 short years ago.

    GO FIGURE!

    And the other party does any better when they are in control...? It doesn't matter which party has the majority, nothing ever gets done.

    We got "change" alright. Most of it is for the worse because of democrats, but it has changed.
