why there is still war/killing today?

Are world leaders today, elected by the people, educated enough to understand that war and killing is uncivilized?

The majority of democratic nations no longer have war as it was known up to 30-40 years ago. You do not hear of conscription or whole nations of people being mobilized to fight outwith the third world. This was a reality for our grandparents in almost every other nation. Few of us actually know someone involved in a war or killed in fighting.

The fact we no longer face this on such a scale should be viewed as a major breakthrough.

There are still many 'small' wars being fought over resources, territory or against oppression. Clearly these are horrendous for those involved and the involvement of western nations is usually to keep the peace or prevent escalation. I conceed that these efforts are not always successful.

The 100 million victims of religious killing is the real holocaust, but we're not supposed to talk about it. History will judge us harshly.

Oh rubbish. Killing always has been, and always will be necessary. If we did not protect what has been ours then the other sides would surely kill us all and take it for themselves. Stop living in dreamland and face reality.

unless you can find a way to make everybody equal (that includes beliefs), that isn't a dictatorship there's always going to be some arguing in the world.
