Surfing in Barbados, East Coast?

Going on a trip to Barbados in March, and just wanted to ask the advice of anyone who has been there. Its a family thing and they rented a house where they said they had heard the good surfing was since my brother and I like to surf. Anyway it turns out the house is right near Soup Bowl which is not just a great surfing place, its a really advanced surfing place with lots of coral and some pretty heavy waves when it kicks up. I know Barbados is pretty small and its not hard to drive to get to other surfing locations, but for a beginner to intermediate surfer (more towards intermediate) does anyone know if there are other locations close by where I am not likely to get in the way of serious surfers? Any help would be great, thanks!

You might want to try Silver Sands in Christ Church but you might still be able to handle the Soup Bowl in Bathsheba. You have to be careful where there are people swimming as some areas are more for surfing than swimming. The sea is big enough for everyone so even if the more experienced ssurfers are using the Soup Bowl you can still use it too.

It is said here that you can surf any place around Barbados.

I would go with Highly Favored's answer on this. Soup Bowl is safe enough, even for a beginner surfer with enough common sense. It is roomy enough, so not to worry about all those experienced surfers.
