Shock Collar for dog?

Before I get any of that 'It's inhumane' crap, let me explain why we need it. We have a border collie/springer spaniel that was born at our house. No, we did not breed the mother. The mother was a foster dog that was picked up from a puppy mill. All the other pups, and the mother, have been adopted. This was 3 years ago. The puppy that we kept, Annie, has always been high strung, and a little on the agressive side. But as she's gotten older, the aggression has gotten much, much worse. We have three other dogs. Our oldest, at 13, is a chocolate lab. Annie attacks all three every now and then, but seems to really dislike the lab.

We have tried all kinds of training, and nothing is working. We're not really quick to use anything like a shock collar. We love dogs, work for a rescue, have four... But at the rate this is going, and how the other dogs are getting hurt (as well as Annie) we only have two options. We're hoping that a shock collar will work it out of her, as she tends to respond to training really well in areas that don't concern her aggression. But, if it doesn't work we will put her down. We have no other options, we can't give her away, and if we brought her to a shelter they would do the same after an aggression test.

So, does anyone know of a good one I could find online? Because I'd really rather keep my dog... We found the Innotek® UltraSmart Trainer, anyone know anything about that? Is it good? Any other suggestions?

Thanks for the help, sorry it's so long.

Update:

We've had the god for 3 years, and like I said this collar id our last resort. We aren't the only ones who think so. The dog is becoming dangerous.

When properly used, a shock collar is not an inhumane last-resort. I hope it works, and I've heard good things about Innotek. I used a 'beep' collar with one of my dogs - it gives a starting noise instead of a shock - but it sounds like your Annie is beyond that and is a better candidate for a shock collar. Stay away from eBay - too many counterfeits there.

I'm NOT suggesting this as an alternative to shock collars, but you mentioned that Annie is high-strung. Have you tried any of the anti-anxiety supplements on the market?

I think you're absolutely doing the right thing. As much as I hope you don't have to put her down, I'm glad that you understand that, if the shock collar fails, it is the only safe, reasonable, and humane thing to do.

    Good luck :)

have you taken the dog to a professional trainer or have you tried to train it yourself? The dog is not living a balanced life. dogs are by nature a pack animal. Maybe you don't need a trainer, you may need a behavior expert, like cesar millan. Somewhere in your dogs life, something is lacking. Are you the alpha? You know the pack leader? It doesn't sound like it. I personally see no need for a shock collar in any situation. You get better results from positive re enforcement. Some people like to shock their dogs, perhaps that is a personal choice.

I feel your dog would be better served if you can find the source of the problem rather than treating the symptom.

Tritronics make good electronic collars. I have a field training collar and am very happy with the use I've made of it for teaching recalls at a distance. If you aren't familiar with shock collars please follow instruction manual or video carefully whichever make you choose.
