Infant spasms or just startled?

What is the difference? my son was laying in bed awaken and out of nowhere he started making sounds like he was about to start crying and he raised his arms and they got stiff his face looked like he had been really scared he started crying so much I quickly grabbed him it took me a few minutes to calm him down, he's done this twice in the past two days any ideas on what it can be?

Just startled.. what you're describing sounds very normal to me... how old is your baby?

My son did this for the first 2 months or so... maybe a little more.

It could have also been gas that was painful and woke him up.

My son did the exact same thing with the rasing the arms and getting stiff thing.. he eventually stopped doing it. You can ask yoru pedi but it sounds normal to me.

Call your pediatrician and ask. You shouldn't ask about it here. If you are truly concerned call your doctor.

Sounds like you house is either haunted and he got spooked by a ghost, or it could be seizures. Get him looked at.
