Hi, Please can someone help me change my tumble dryer drive belt?

I would like to know how to change the belt in my HOTPOINT AQUARIUS TDL 52P dryer. Do I take the front or back of the machine?

Thank you in advance for any help I get:)

Jo

Update:

I have tried taking off th back and it won't come off. I've taken all the screws out, It's the motor that's in the way, it's like a metal fan if that makes sense?

Update 2:

If it's this easy how come nobody has explained how to do it yet?? I've been trying to take the back off for 6 hours now!!! It just will not come off.

the back, if it's a multi grooved belt, slip the belt off the large wheel as you rotate it, and watch your fingers!!!

well if the back won't come off does the sides and the top come off as a large square U giving you access that way, this fan thing is it about 18" to 2 feet in diameter, if it is this is the drum wheel and below it is a small one on the motor about 3/4" diameter, if there's nothing connecting them the old belts gone. more info or a picture, email me.

look on hotpoint's website and see if they show an exploded diagram of it.

That because you probably have not removed the top or bottom screws first remove the top gives you more light to see what your doing then remove the rear panel (it will come off) you may have to tilt it forward to find the other screws, once removed you will see the drive belt this is usually in the centre of the drum if its snapped it will be on the bottom of the machine to refit a new one you may have top remove the cross member that hold the drum just remove the bolts either side and put the belt on loosely replace the cross member and bolts fit the belt over the motor first then under the tension pulley some machines have two pulleys some only one the belt goes on the inside of them to give tension on the drive belt all you do then is test it if ok replace all panels have fun oh forgot make sure the belt is in the centre of the drum !!!!!

Yes take off the back, and you should find the old belt there. Should be pretty easy.

You will be surprised how simple they are.....check the price on rollers. If they are cheap replace them too & unless the motor goes, you won't be in there for another 15 years!
