victory in iraq and afghanistan?

why can't we just declare victory in the wars? i saw today the government wants 708 billion for the wars for next year. why can't the president just go on TV and say the war is over. it is not perfect but we did some things we wanted to do and now it is done. if anyone wants to restart the war we will address that at that time. but for now we are bringing our troops home.

i searched why not declare victory but i got nothing. lets do it. what is wrong with my idea.

save money and our soldiers lives , fight more later if we have to. but for now victory.

Update:

bojo, as i said the president goes on TV says we declare victory, it is not perfect , but we are coming home, any new threats will be dealt with as they may occur.

how is that different than anything else a politician says on TV. i mean add 5000 words if you want , but the idea is we won, it is not perfect, new problems will probably come up , they will be dealt with.

it seems so simple.

Update 2:

warren , thanks for your answer, but they will always be somewhere , 9/11 was very sad for me. and no we do not want that outcome ,i just don't think your idea will prevent it.

Update 3:

me , thanks for your answer but i think they are more mad about us being over there than they would be if we said we won and we are done for now and left

Update 4:

thinkabo ... ty 4 ure answer. you really got in there and tried to hit me pesonal. i read the news and see people are bankrupt and foreclosed and owe many k's for credit card debt.

so i thought i was doing good , bills paid , 5 k in the banks , i have an old house and an old car but i am warm at night , i even have a gf, so how do you like me now?

Al Qaeda and the Taliban would then once again control Afghanistan to use as a terrorist base. Hopefully we have not forgotten 9/11. If the enemy is not pursued, it WILL happen again! Do we want that outcome?

Why would a 35-year-old adult who has amassed only $5,000 in savings feel that any opinion they had was worth sharing? Don't you feel kind of embarrassed that you have made so little of the opportunities the US has to offer?

Our troops are over there fighting to preserve freedoms you are apparently not willing or able to take advantage of for yourself & your family, and you want to criticize?

That takes a special kind of inattention!

Just how does one declare "victory" when the objective is unknown, and changes to suit the political party in control?

There wil be no victory either in Iraq or Afghanistan . We ,may pull out, but in the end we have gained nothing.

nicely i don't understand in case you have been watching the information at present yet we already "invaded" Pakistan. We undermined their sovereignty as quickly as we crossed the border into Pakistan to discover terrorists. So now they are capturing at our helicopters. "triumphing" the conflict in Afghanistan may be finding and killing Osama Bin weighted down and various the terrorists linked with him. he isn't the "chief" of Al Qaida, so terrorism might pass on in his absence, yet he's a considerable participant. "triumphing" the conflict in Iraq includes getting them returned to independence returned. we've screwed up adequate of their usa already we would desire to besides attempt to restoration what we are in a position to.
