What is your opinion on the negative tactic of bowling outside off stump to stop the batsmen scoring?
With cricket fans crying out for good, entertaining cricket, do you think that this is a good strategy?
Sorry, I should add, that bowling way, waay outside off stump, nearer the popping crease than the batsman....
Dan, looking for opinions here...sorry if you misunderstood, I wasnt being critical, maybe you dont need to be so quick to judge.

In ODI's, it can be a good tactic (notice I say 'can be', not always) because there's a limitation on the allowable overs and the batsmen will be forced to go after them. Which means that either wickets will fall or lots of balls will be fetched from the point - cover region, which makes for an exciting contest either way.
In tests? I can think of better things to do with my time than watch batsmen leave outside the off-stump all day long. It's the sort of thing you'd do when you're out of ideas. For God's sake, make them play at the ball, you're not going to get them out otherwise.

My opinion is that it is as weak as pi ss. If that is the only way you can control an opposition batsman you are not playing to an international standard. It is sad to watch the Pakistan team resort to this. Poor captaincy from Blackbeard. His bowlers (who are more than handy) must feel like second rate tools following those instructions. What red blooded competitor, which describes most fast bowlers, would enjoy bowling that tripe.

I was always told to bowl line and length just outside off stump.
A good bowler will do it ball after ball.
A good batsman will have the patience to wait for a bad ball.

if its click then its very gud tactic bcz nw a days bowler have nothing in pitch they are ther to fill up the team just like actress in Bollywood . all credit goes to batsman only , the mostly MOM also gives to batsman . so they follow this tactic if its click then its really gud to see.

Roberto, can you show me where in the laws of cricket it states you can't bowl outside of the off stump.
They are not play marbles. I hope you think about your questions next time & not post rubbish.
Points taken Roberto, sometimes captains pack of offside as thats is the plan they have set their bowlers to target.

I am against those tactics, all it does is lead to p.p.cricket, seeing that they are behind the eightball being 2 tests down

In ODI's against players like Sachin it can work, but in test matches it doesn't work well at all.
