1 because in the first equation you move 2y to the other side by adding 2y to make the equation x=1+2y. now you know that x=1+2y so you plug it into the other equation like this. (1+2y)+4y=7. you can then drop the parantheses.1+2y+4y=7 combine like term to get 1+6y=7. subtract one from both sides to get 6y=6 and divide by 6 to get y=1

ok, if x-2y=a million, X=2y+a million, so we are able to place that into the different equation. the 2d equation will become: 2y+a million+4y=7. That’s comparable to 6y+a million=7 or 6y=6. Y=a million you could bypass further with the aid of putting y=a million into the two equation to locate that x-2(a million)=a million or x=3

x - 2y = 1 and x + 4y = 7
First, take the first equation and make it so that x is by itself on one side of the equal sign.
x - 2y + 2y = 1 + 2y
x = 1 + 2y
Now, substitute that final answer into the second equation where you see the variable x.
(1 + 2y) + 4y = 7
Combine like terms.
1 + 6y = 7
Solve for y.
1 -1 + 6y = 7 - 1
6y = 6
y = 1

x − 2y = 1 equals x= 1 +2y
x + 4y = 7 equals x= 7-4y
you got x=x
you can say now that 1+2y=7-4y
6y=6
Y=6/6
Y=1 and that’s all

x-2y=1 << we'll call this (1)
x+4y=7 << and this (2)
-2y=1 (subtract x from both equations)
4y=7 (subtract x from both equations)
-6y=-6 subtract (2) from (1)
6y=6
y=1
