My wifes Headaches, Leave her Dizzy & Blackout?
My was in a car accident back in 2007. A woman rear-ended her. It didn't initially appear to be a bad accident, it was one week before our wedding, but in the years since then my wife experiences severe neck and back pain and she has headaches which are very painful and cause her to feel dizzy and nearly blackout. I will describe them in details now and ask my question.
First, she experiences them exclusively on the left side of her head. She describes it has having CONSTANT painful pressure with an occasional moment when she will get dizzy and feel light headed.. She says that she sees total blackness when this occurs.
Recently it as been getting more frequent.
She has seen two neurologists who have performed MRIs. They say there is no tumor, and because we just had our first child, she is nursing and she wont take medication.
Are there resources that might help us to find out what she is experiencing and diagnose her?
Does anyone have this experience? Its frustrating watching her suffer. Thank you.

Hello.
There's a condition called 'Chiari Malformation', it's when the Cerebellum part of the brain has been pushed downwards, which is stopping fluids from passing through the skull. This can cause severe headaches, dizziness, blackouts, clumsiness, depression, vision problems and much much more. It's also interesing you said she has experienced Neck and back pain, because CM is formed in the neck.
The only problem is, CM is usually caused through birth, But i don't see why a car crash couldn't cause this. I really do suggest you read a bit more about CM, and suggest it to your doctor.
Good Luck.

+ I had a look at another question you had asked about your wife, and I noticed you had mentioned her having numbness in her left arm and Hand. I would like to add this is another symptom of CM, which can lead to paralysis of the arm. I would consult your doctor, even if she hasn't got this condition, it is worth checking.
Good luck once again.

i am having a similar thing they don't cause me to get dizzy or blackout but they are the worst headaches! I have tried chiropractor i also have back pain. and am now trying acupuncture hoping that will help my headaches and back pain. My headaches will either be on the right or the left side and nothing seems to help them...it is very frustrating and don't want to be like this forever! I wish her luck!

if the anatomy of her brain is normal as viewed in the mri, maybe it is a form of somatoform disorder. a mental disorder characterized by physical symptoms that mimic physical disease or injury for which there is no identifiable physical cause. but you should make sure that she would not be predisposed to CVA or stroke caused by the accident because she manifests some symptoms of having cerebral venous thrombosis

You are fine that happens to me all the time. Drink more water that will help. Also it is because you are standing up to fast. So stand up slower. Oh and one more think if u start to black out and feel hot you should sit down, and drink some water and eat some food. If u do not do this you may faint. I have done this twice. Hope this helps!
