Is Puerto Plata/Dominican Republic safe for travel now?

I am going on vacation to the Dominican Republic in early February. Is it safe since the earthquake in Haiti? I'm a little worried about my trip since that happened. Both about aftershocks and violence/crowding in the Dominican.
