Clindamycin; Good or Bad?
I have been prescribed this medication for severe tooth pain.Will it work and will it really cause all of the horrible side effects people say it will, such as the nasty diarrhea?

I have been on Clindamycin once.....and YUCK!
Made me sick all week long! I would personally ask for a different antibiotic.
As far as the gut side effects, try PB8 probiotic.

Eat something with it....yogurt is best. This will help keep your normal flora healthy and lower your risk for ulcerative colitis. It is a good antibiotic when used in the correct situation, but it can cause diarrhea in some people. If you do have severe diarrhea stop taking it and call your doctor.
BTW it is not for pain, it is for a bacterial infection.

My dentist put me on this for a tooth abcess a few days ago. It is not a painkiller, it's an antibiotic. He prescribed me a separate painkiller. I haven't had any problems on it (yet), I didnt know about these side effects until I read your question. Now I"M worried too.
