Yellow sticky stuff in baby's eyes?
My 9 month old baby has the fever. I noticed after he woke up from his nap he had these yellow sticky stuff in his eyes. They were hard to get out of his eyes and lashes. I was thinking this might be pink eyes. Does anyone know actually what the yellow sticky stuff is?
Do I need to bring my son to his clinlic asap or can I wait til Monday? He just had an appointment today for his physcial and fever. He is schuedule for his next checkup on Monday.

It's infection coming from the tear ducts. He needs to see a doctor.

If he has a fever, then the goopy eyes are more than likely a symptom of whatever virus he has contracted. Viral conjunctivitis is common with baby colds and other respiratory viruses. My 7 month old had a nasty respiratory virus for 2 full weeks before Christmas and the goopy eyes were the first symptom. Her eyes actually stayed red, swollen and glassy for over a week-- it was so creepy looking.
Eye discharge is a combination of fluid and shed cells from the eye itself and the surrounding area. Be aware, that if she has a virus-- and I bet she does-- that the eye discharge is loaded with the viral cells just like secretions from the nose and mouth.
If his fever is not high, then you can probably just call his ped on Monday and just start treating any discomfort he has now. If you are breastfeeding, breast milk is good for clearing up irritation in the eyes (better for bacteria, but it can still help a bit.)

My son had an eye infection for almost 8 months - nothing made it go away.
I tried breast milk in the eye, eye ointment, eye drops....everything....it finally went away on it's own. The doctors kept reassuring me it was normal. But definitly take him to the doctor - it's not that serious though so don't fret. hugs
