What is the differance between microsoft word and microsft works 9.0?

Question

Intending to buy the Dell Studio 15, and just found out that it doesnt come with microsoft word. It comes with Works.

Im using this laptop for coursework. My coursework entales alot of writing and graphs.

Is the Microsoft works okay for this, or should i fork out £90!!!!! For microsoft word.

Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, ...) is far more useful than Microsoft Works.  I don't know if it's available in the UK, but as a student, you may be eligible for the Ultimate Steal edition of Office ($60.00, or about £40-45, I think).

Also, since the machine comes with Works, you might be eligible for the upgrade discount to Office (or is that your £90 deal already?)
