Zenyatta heading back to the track?
http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/articles/54...
What fantastic news, now Im from Australia but I still think that this is some of the most amasing news and so good for racing as a whole. There is nothing better than watching a fantastic race horse continue its career past its prime instead of being shipped off to stud. So do you think this will change the outcome of the Horse Of The Year result (admit it there would be some bias in the choice :) ) Also although i am unsure of the full situation (aussie) do you think that we may one day see Zenyatta and Rachel Alexandra clash? Whether or not it happens the thought is fantastic.
So share your thoughts upon hearing this wonderful news!
Well its the only form of news we have gotten through about the story here in Australia of course being a Sunday doesn't help. Keeping a mare fit for sending her to stud??? Now that sounds quite questionable. Its all about which news site and which source you trust the most for now.

It won't affect Horse of the Year because the Eclipse Award ceremony is Monday, so the voting is already closed.
I do think that Rachel and Zenyatta will face each other. Since the Breeders Cup will be on a dirt track, I expect each mare to be in the Classic. They may clash sooner like possibly in the Apple Blossom or Louisville Distaff... but definately in the Classic.
I was ecstatic upon hearing this news... the greatest news I've heard since getting by passing Bar Exam results! And the greatest news in horse racing since Seabiscuit's comeback!
Source(s): Billy Ray: Zenyatta's owners announced today that she is remaining in training for a 2010 campaign. Here's the news story: http://www.ntra.com/content.aspx?type=news&id=4430... Karin, did you not hear that Lava Man has once again been retired? His last place finish put an end to his comeback: http://www.ntra.com/content.aspx?type=news&id=4403... - 1 decade ago
I almost fell for it too...lol. All the news media are making a big hype about Zenyatta's 3 recorded workouts in a 6 week period. But according to the Moss's, she is a big strong horse that needs to be worked or breezed every 2 weeks or so. These workouts are to get her fit for the upcoming breeding season the owners said. Zenyatta's retirement plans have not changed and are still a "go" as well. It did sound promising though didn't it?....This is what I read and there is also a couple more articles disputing Zen's return. So, I wonder which statements are true by the owners. It would be nice if they would tell the truth to the world....

I'm crossing my fingers and hoping, praying that it's true, and that if it's true nothing happens to screw it up.
The thoughts going through my mind: The Mosses could breed her any time before mid-July and get a 2011 foal from her. If she races through May, there's a chance for her to win some good races and meet Rachel Alexandra. Then they could retire her and still get a foal from her for next year.
One of the things that's a really tempting thought, aside from a meeting with Rachel Alexandra: she's based in California, she's shown she could beat males. No female has won the Santa Anita Handicap. A rejuvenated Lava Man could be headed for the Big 'Cap to try to become the first-ever three-time winner. Now wouldn't that be a race to get the crowd on its feet?
With all the things that go wrong, I'm not going to believe we'll really, truly see Zenyatta back at the races until she actually loads in the starting gate. But if it's true, it's outstanding news!

I agree with GANIDSAATIK. Even though millions of people want to see Zenyatta & Rachel race I have a very strong gut feeling that Zenyatta will be dealt her first loss here. Rachel is just pure speed and now she is even stronger with a 24 to 25 ft stride, Zenyatta will never catch her.

I'LL JUST HOPE THAT THEY RETIRE HER FOR GOOD,SHE HAS NOTHING TO PROVE.
RETIRE HER AN UNDEFEATED CHAMPION.
