No, sorry. New Orleans is New Orleans and Mardi Gras is not an imitation. Brazil does a great Carnival, but Brazil is in Brazil. I don't think anyone in New Orleans has any desire to be anything but New Orleans. Bringing a Brazilian Carnival to the New Orleans Mardi Gras would be like bringing a soccer ball to the NFL Superbowl (just totally out of place). Sorry.
Look for the Mardi Gras Indians, the Skull & Bone gangs, the Babydolls, the impromptu jazz and brass street bands and dances, the costumed groups, the wild stuff in the French Quarter, the transvestites, the uptown parades, king cakes, throws and, "the greatest free show on earth," but sorry, no Brazilian Carnival here.

A HUGE Brazilian population in New Orleans? Where? I can't even find anywhere to get a Brazilian wax job!
I'm sure there are "some" Brazilians in the New Orleans area, and I'm twice as sure there are a wonderful warm people, but I've never heard of a Brazilian Carnival here either.
If you find one, lets us know! I'd love to go see it!

I'm ready! I hope I will be able to fly down and experience it in person. I wouldn't get my hopes up for Brazil winning though, unless the new coach can find a way to undo the damage Dunga did. I think Germany is a serious threat to be the first European team to win in the americas, they are young and tough.
