I think drinking from plastic bottle is injurious to health.

PET or PETE (polyethylene terephthalate) plastic is used in single use water bottles that breaks down when used repeatedly releasing cancer-causing chemicals.

Most plastic bottles used in the sale of bottled water in supermarket, warehouse are made of polyethylene terephthalate (PET or PETE) or polyethylene (PE), which does not contain Bisphenol A. Large jugs, sport bottles can be made of polycarbonate plastic (PC) which may contain small amounts of Bisphenol A. As a result of the use of polycarbonate water bottles, minute quantities of Bisphenol A can potentially leach out into the water or food and consumers may be exposed to small amounts of Bisphenol A through their normal daily diet.

When it comes to Bisphenol A (BPA) exposure from polycarbonate plastic bottles, it's not whether the container is new or old but the LIQUID's TEMPERATURE that has the most impact on how much BPA is released.

Talking about plastic baby bottles, the chemical bisphenol-A (BPA) used to make plastic baby bottles is harmful, according to experts. The chemical is linked to breast cancer, sex hormone imbalances and has adverse health risks to babies.

It is fine. People have found that if you reuse plastic bottle a lot that some of the chemicals used to cure the plastic can leach into what ever you are drinking. I wouldn't worry about it if you are drinking from it once and then tossing the bottle (or hopefully recycling it).

If it was harmful, the FDA would have made it illegal to even use plastic bottles and nothing else will be put in plastic bottles again.

Not in this day and age. Bottled water companies strive to prevent any chemicals leaking into the water from the plastic. Most bottled water will have an expiry date on it, this way you can tell how long it has been sitting on the shelf at the grocery store.

On the bottom of all plastic containers, somewhere is a number, 1 to 4, the higher the number the safer the bottle. Drank right away, it isn't going to kill you, just don't leave it sitting in a hot car, or in the sun, or if you open it, finish it.

Must remember, plastics are made from petroleum.. you don't want to leave something in a plastic bottle for very long.. this was just presented by the media in the last few weeks.. Don't remember who gave the warning.

I believe chemicals do pass through to anything it comes in contact with. particularly meats. I have noted a difference in the taste of water after it heats up in the plastic.
