There are a couple of different types of zinnia seeds; garden or cut varieties. Garden zinnias are almost bush-like and generally the stems are too short to cut. Cut flower zinnias are just that used as cut flowers they are what you will find at farmers markets or floral shops. Both of these types of zinnias can be grown in your home garden.

Yes you could find zinnia seeds at those stores or you can purchase them online. In the past I've purchased flower and vegetable seed packets from local stores such as Lowes & Home Depot, but I haven't had much success in growing when the seeds were purchased at a mass merchandiser. In the Spring any store that sells garden seeds will have them. But for mail/internet order I recommend Jung's, Gurney's and henry Field's. I have ordered from these and several others over 40 yr. and like these companies.

Yes you can get the seeds in all these stores. In my area (Chicago) it is a little too early in the season to have them yet.
