None! Any poison you put in the vegetable garden, you will be eating.

Source(s): Been gardening for 40 years. I've eaten lots of insecticides + herbicides and I wish I didn't.

Newsprint and mulch. If you want to grow edible vegetables, you don't want to use poison.

Another alternative is to look at your local gardening center or home improvement store for weed control cloth.

    Good luck.

Treflan, Poast, and Dacthal. Read labels and follow the instructions.

once the plants are established, give corn meal a try for a pre-emergent... also as a fungicide ... good stuff....

none if you're planting seed, if you don't mind eating the product, any is ok as long as you plant existing plants - it stops germination
