This is what hip hop was about back then. A community that comes together, all for one, checking the egos at the door. Can you see any of today's so called artists doing anything like this?
Arsenio was the man. I remember seeing this episode but can honestly say haven't looked at it since it aired back then. I could have sworn Public Enemy were there though, guess not.

Damn, that was dope! I used to watch Arsenio Hall on the reg, but I don't remember that performance. It seems like the only time artists come together these days is when a tragedy occurs and they want to raise money or awareness about something, which is cool, but gone are the days of park jams and heads getting together just for fun and for the love of the music. I can't think of any live performances similar to that in recent years, but the "Hip Hop For Respect EP" is the only thing that comes to mind.
LOL..I was asking myself the same thing. I remember he used to have music guests perform, but not that many all on the same show. Was that a birthday special or an anniversary show or something?
vvv
No wonder, I never knew how or why the show went off the air. That's a nice way to go out though! LMAO @ ODB.

I could sit here and write an entire theory on why the younger generation of today should look at this video and videos of this time period and then compare them to some of the trash that is being produced and marketed today and think how it could be done so easily by me that I could do it with my eyes blindfolded.
This is what the Arsenio Hall Show brought to us every night and what made his show so special!!! Props first to Arsenio!!!! Yo Yo, Mc Lyte....and I adored C.L. Smooth, Naughty by Nature..I don't think anyone did a bad job but they were just representing the music of the time and doing what they did best.
Da*n I wish music would go back to the days....I know that it is "somewhat" going back to the vibes...but these people represented what RHH really was all about at the time!!! LOVED IT!!!! It's in my faves now!!! I know that music is always evolving and changing but this is a raw and freestyle expereince of rappers showing their love of their skills at a time when rap was at it's prime. They were hungry for the love of the music of RHH and it shows. It doesn't surprise me that it would come from you...thanks for the turn on!!!
Happy 2010!!!

Hahaha.. I recorded this episode when it came on tv and have watched my vhs recording of that probably 25 times. I loved seeing everyone come together like that. Nice to see Das Efx up in there.
Good find.
Edit: How could you miss that one Frum? Shame on you, haha.
@ Frum: That was the final episode.. That's why Im shocked to hear you missed it. I was waiting for that episode weeks in advance just to see who was going to be on.
ROFLMAO @ O.D.B. at the end saying over and over "The black man is gone, the black man is gone" Hahaha
