Being a Skype Supernode - Opinions?
I downloaded Skype and used it for the first time tonight. My computer became a supernode within a couple of hours. At the moment, my router is showing 53 TCP connections to various computers using port 80, 81, or port 445. The throughput is really, really small and my CPU usage is only 2%. I have a quad core, 4gb, Comcast 12/2, Windows 7 machine. Supernode doesn't seem to be a huge problem and I"m thinking of leaving it on for a few hours a day. Someone has to be a supernode. Is 50ish connections at a time average? Any opinions would be appreciated.
I also noticed that shutting down Skype and closing the taskbar icon does not stop the supernode function. My router continues to show several dozen IP connections from computers using port 80, 80, and 445 I assume you have to shut down the computer to end SuperNode.
