Jumps racing given another chance?
So today RVL announced that they have given jumps racing in Victoria yet another lifeline. The Jumps racing community have been given a set of conditions that they must reach by the end of the 2010 season. If they do reach these stats then jumps racing will continue in 2011, but of course will be under constant review, if not then bye bye.
The conditions are -
A reduction of the fatality rate by approximately 50% on last season (from 1.27% of starters in 2009 to 0.65% at 2010 season end)
A reduction in the fall rate from over 5% to 3% of starters at 2010 season end
A commitment to co-operate with RVL to increase the number of starters per jumps race. The target is for no more than 20% of jumps races to have less than eight starters. (last season - 44%)
Of course to help reach these there will be many changes that include yet more modifications to the jumps and no more jumps racing at Moonee Valley.

So the question is can Jumps racing actually reach these goals and get the stats down to those levels, also do you think the RVL are making it as hard as possible for it to continue? These stats are very different to what we have now and we still have some of the lowest fall and fatality stats in the world! Can Jumps racing really keep going, they're making it awfully difficult.
So basically is this fair, I think its great they have been given another chance but is it worth it?

This is complete and utter farsical nonsense, but the fatality rate is a little bit high.the fallers are on average to here in UK.and for the number of starters that is absolute nonsence .Here in Uk we sometimes have races worth 100,000pounds and you oly get 3 or 4 runners.come on the victoria authorities need to start looking abroad and see what jump racing is all about.and learn. I do not agree with your racing authority, what do they want a complete card with no fallers and more than 8 in each race, you can only run horses so often they are not machines which you can enter up week in week out so as to keep the entries above a certain figure. but good luck for continued jump racing.

No i doubt it. Moreover I had no knowledge of NASCAR in financial troubles, where did you hear this? But from what i can see, Gordon got really lucky. I was devastated seeing Johnson spin out at that last restart but Gordon was in an excellent position when all four of the leading cars got tangled up. Yes they could hold out and wait for the storm to pass but the contingency of the storm confirmed the officials' decision with just ending the race.

a well known jumps trainer in new zealand who also trains in australia was quoted . that he thought the jumps in victoria were to easy , meaning to low , that allowed the horses to be ridden at breakneck speed which made them to make mistakes to easy.
i hope they do carry on as the warnammbool easter event is huge
