As far as I know, because my impending marriage to a UK citizen is long way off, lol, you have to have a permit from your local parish stating that you are not married, if you intend to get married in church.Once that is established you have to make a newspaper announcement of the marriage a few weeks before it.
Anyway, as our learned participant Pandora points you to the experts, you have nothing to lose asking them and also keep in mind those minor details I wrote about.
@ Pandora. What was it tickling me, that you will not let that one untouched? Firstly, I'm already "married" and before anything like that happens, a divorce may be in order, but anyway why not? And furthermore what is it too you, if I do or don't? Do I have to have your permission to do anything in my life?
Anyway, just to be amicable, I'll ask your permission to marry if and when.

Lol, I can assure you polygamy isn't enshrined in the Greek constitution!!! If I remember well as my goddaughter and her sis got married to greek men, I know that you will need a certificate stating that you are single, Are you marrying in a church? Then you need to talk with the priest of the church you intend to marry. If you are christian you do net need to convert (baptised) though if you stay in Greece it might be a good idea as I have been told. Remember whatever you are requested paper work wise make sure is translated in greek, greeks are notorious for refusing paperwork that isn't in greek!!!!Best of luck and best wishes!!

You should be introduced to Greek culture and customs: after the spouse death, his women are in competition to earn the First Right - to be buried alive next to the husband's body. It is really great ceremony, all in flowers and aromatic sticks.

Ask in your embassy first ! Beware of one Greek habit: they usually marry more than a one bride (legal max. is four wives)

Hi Honey, I booked my daughter's wedding in Santorini 2yrs ago.....I went through Santorini.com
Depending on the area you are wanting to get married, check out their tourist websites or google it....ie) weddings in 'wherever'
Normally these sites will show you websites for places and information to get married.
I paid very little fees to the agent I chose (total of wedding was £1400, and this included a meal for 12 people with wine) it is worth it to get the paperwork sorted.
Also you need to be in the country a certain amount of days before your wedding.
Good Luck ;-)
