Does your religion come from the Bible?

I was reading a bible quote from some one before about homosexuality, and noted that i dont have a view that is really in line totally with the passage. Id say im a christian, but im wondering now how much of my point of view just comes from hanging out with christians and deciding on what is right etc (i have a degree in theology as well, that effects it all a bit) but yeah. And if you dont agree with things your read in the bible about any thing, are you liberal?

Update:

lol! the women quote fits in here!! what if you let (lol what if your wife does) speak in the church, and not at home? its not all that black and white :P im not really talking about the basics of christianity, more that sort of thing

Update 2:

To shalom yall, im just reflecting on societies christianity, and the fact that i dont go to the text for every thing. I was asking a few questions in one, maybe i wasnt too clear. You seem to be deciding a lot from what i scribled down there, do you do this often?

Update 3:

Lol! supporting the death penalty?!

Update 4:

Sorry, just re read my question, im really asking how you see your self, and in looking at your self, do you see your self as liberal in any way for not being word for word.

Shalom yall, you were definataly reading too much into the question, i wasnt displaying my views on the topic, just pointing out information on my view , on the topic.

This is a reflective question more than any thing.

Update 5:

Amy i think your right about every one having an agenda etc etc, but i think that its still the word of God, and that God is outside of time, so had more to do with the writing of the Bible than we will ever understand on earth, Gods will be done on earth despite us :P

So we still need to take it into account, as its in the word of God.

Yes. I am a oneness apostolic Pentecostal.

If you don't agree with things you read in the Bible you need to be careful and make sure you are actually a Christian.

My beliefs have to match the Bible. The Bible does not change to match my beliefs.

Christianity existed for over 300 years before the Bible was written. It will continue to exist after people come to their senses and realize that the Bible reveals more about the personal and political agendas of it's priestly authors than it does about the the so called Truth.

The Bible is definitely NOT the Word of God. If God really wanted to write a book Jesus would have done it Himself and there would be no questions about it. It would also be a very different book.

Real power lies in the hands of those who write history and create the mythos upon which a society is based. In Biblical times this was the priesthood. They and the scribes they trained were the only literate members of society. The easiest way to keep people (women, slaves and any other 2nd class citizens) in their place is to say that God ordained it that way and then produce a book to prove it.

No matter how inspired the authors were or by what source, the information had to filter through their minds and personalities. The Bible was written by men immersed in an ancient patriarchal culture. They all had agendas, whether it was keeping the social order, unifying doctrine, eliminating heresy or gaining converts. After studying it for years I've concluded that it's a pretty transparent piece of propaganda.

What I do value in the Bible is the story of Christ's life and teachings. I think He knew how misinterpreted and manipulated words can become and therefore lived in a way that would allow us to follow in His footsteps regardless of what anyone wrote about Him. I follow the Christ but not the Bible.

The links below objectively detail the origins of the Bible (1 & 2)

as well as the inconsistencies and inaccuracies (3)

One need not have read one word from any Bible to be of The One True Church(The True Christian Faith)...

as you make the claim of a degree in "theology"... and claim the title of Christian... I would ask this... who granted you the title of Christian.... there is only one correct answer to that question... if you had to think about it... you ain't....

and if you do not know from your "degree" then you were cheated in your "theology" instruction... as I would say was the case, just from the fact that you had to ask the question you did... your own words indicate you are not of The True Christian Faith.

I would like to suggest that you read The Politically Incorrect Guide to The Bible. He has a great discussion on this subject.

If a person claims to be a Christian then this person would not have any trouble with what Gods word say's right? If we say that we disagree with what God has said...we must ask our self are we who we claim to be or are we being our own God?

My religion comes from God. But not believing the Bible does not automatically make you a liberal.

I used to be okay with abortion, and homosexuality and against the death penalty.

I am now against homosexuality and abortion, but okay with the death penalty.

My political views have change since my salvation.

I try to fallow the Bible.

To say that you are a liberal is to recognize a standard, in this case, the Bible and when you say you are liberal, you are saying that your opinion is in addition or not holding to that standard.

Despite what the majority of people in the world say, the Bible is the best source of guidance in our lives. Additionally, we have the assistance of Jehovah God, the Author of the scriptures and his holy spirit to help us understand what the scriptures mean (including the book of Revelation, Isaiah, Daniel and the other 63 books of the Bible).

It is safe to say that the reason for the world being as chaotic, filled with hatred, loose conduct, no moral sense or character is all because of one's failure to adhere to Bible principles. Just because something is old does not invalidate it. Just think, the sun, moon, rain, stars, trees and even more basic, air, carbon dioxide, water, food, heat, have been around for aeons of centuries. Now, would you sit there and tell me that water, carbon dioxide, heat, sun, moon, rain, stars are no beneficial to us just because it has been around for so long, as if it was worn out its welcome? Of course not.

Just think, right now in Haiti, do you think those who are directly affected are refusing water, saying, ah its too old? OR It has been around for so long, it is no longer beneficial. I do not need water or food. I am just going to survive on my own without food and water because, these commodities have ran their course. What kind of fool would ever say that, either in Haiti and/or here? So, let's be real folks... Let's be careful about putting the Bible down, as if it no longer has value just because of its longevity. Consider the following, along with the scriptures listed.

Ephesians 4:5, 6: "one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6 one God and Father of all [persons], who is over all and through all and in all." Therefore, only one religion can be the true one. Just like a math equation/problem can only have one answer, similarly, there can only be one true religion.

There are those who will ask me, what makes your religion the right one? I reply, you have something better? Do you?

Take your world's religions. There are those who teach hate. That is in violation of 1 John 4:20. Therefore, take those religions out of the equation.

There are those who mix religion and politics. We have the televangelists who "preach the word" through the TV and doing nothing but raking in money. Such religions put their trust in the UN and the government for world peace. This is in violation of Psalm 146:3, 4, Jeremiah 10:23, and Acts 5:29. Take those religions out of the equation in terms of following what the Bible teaches.

There are religions that condone homosexuality. Priests ordaining gay bishops, etc. Homosexuality, pre-marital sex and living a loose life are the kind of lives that these people who profess to serve God live. This is in violation of 1 Corinthians 6:9-11. Therefore, we can take such religions out the equation in following what the Bible really teaches.

There are religions that side in wars. Revelation 18 mentions to "get out of her" (Babylon the Great) if you do not want to share in her sins. All of these religions (except Jehovah's Witnesses) are part of Babylon the Great. Just look at the countless innocent lives that have been taken. Revelation 17:5, 6 describes Babylon the Great as the Mother of the Disgusting things of the earth.

There are religions that say that when a person dies, their soul continues to live on. That is in conflict of Ecclesiastes 9:5 (dead conscious of nothing at all) There are religious leaders that will tell you to your face that when your loved ones die, that it was God's will and he needed another angel in heaven with him. This is in violation of Ecclesiastes 9:11 and Job 34:10.

It just goes to show you that we are truly living in the last days. (2 Timothy 3:1-5) Many religious leaders neglect the Bible by calling it old fashion. However, the scriptures are inspired by God. (2 Timothy 3:16, 17)

Does you religion feed you spiritually in these last days? Jesus appointed the John class or "faithful and discreet slave to provide food at the proper time." (Matthew 24:45-47). Do you have the proper tools to endure to the end? I am not talking about materially. Money will not buy you everlasting life. Just read what happened to the Israelites (Ezekiel 6-10).

Isn't it something that the article on the cover of the May 22, 2001 AWAKE! was on Terrorism, Look what happened 3 1/2 months later. The attacks on 9-11-01. Coincidence? I think not. That article even spoke about Anthrax, way before intelligence at the White House came up with the term. Again, does your religion feed you with spiritual food at the proper time? (Matthew 24:45-47) This article was one of the few magazines that were published well over the proposed amount. There was a surplus of these magazines being shipped.

Our June 1, 2007 article "What is the Source of Evil?" This magazine too was in surplus amounts. This magazine was in the wake of the horrors at Virginia Tech. Many people are wondering who is behind these evil acts? It is no coincidence
