Anyone know how to make smoked paprika? I have an electric smoker.?

We are having people over for smoked meat. I thought it would be a nice gift for my guests to make them some smoked paprika to remember the day by.

I am smoking cheese and salt on my smoker right now. A little paprika might be nice. I build a small charcoal fire in a tin can that I have punched holes in and add my smoking wood to that that way the smoker never gets above 100 degrees so the cheese won't melt.

Smoked paprika comes from the peppers being smoked before they are dried and ground.

Try toasted instead. Just put some in a non-stick or cast iron skillet and heat on high while constantly shaking. When it just begins to change color to a darker tint of red, remove from the heat and dump quickly nto a bowl (get it out of the pan to prevent further cooking or burning)

It's true the peppers are smoked before ground but since you have a smoker you could try smoking your peppers using different types of wood. Like mesquite, adler wood or even any other type you might like. Different wood tastes for different meats or seafood.

I used to get my wood for ebay and also I have used wood chips and chunks from Lowe's.
