You have to wait. They run your credit when you apply for a credit card. You want the least amount of inquiries on your credit report as possible because they will view your credit report several times before closing. More inquiries can lower your score, and just 1 point can ruin it for you.

Your score is low enough and you will have problems securing the loan, to apply for more credit will lower it further bad move. Just because you are pre-approved does not guarantee that you will get the loan as they get into more specifics trying to add another credit line will make matters allot worse

Under no circumstance should you apply for or accept any new credit cards or debt prior to closing.
Your mortgage consultant should have informed you of this.
If you apply for a credit card or accept new credit if could affect your application. Even if it does not you could be required as to why you chose to obtain a new credit card at this time.
After your purchase transaction close you may apply for Lowe's credit card at that time.
I hope this has been of some benefit to you, good luck.

Yes, his bad credit will hinder getting a mortgage. But even more important is that you should NEVER, NEVER, NEVER jointly purchase a house with someone you are not legally married to. There are thousands of horror stories of people who bought houses with a fiance only to have true love fail. Then you are stuck. You can't get them off the deed and you can't sell unless they agree. It's a lot easier to add a spouse after the marriage ceremony.

I would you prefer that wait for closing before you get in to any debt through after applying for the credit card..

DO NOT DO THIS. Your credit score is just on the line and applying for a CC will lower it. In addition, if the lender can't do the loan because you applied for the CC and lowered your score, the seller can (and should) hold your deposit.

WAIT!! Do NOT apply for any new credit until your house deal closes.
