Walking barefoot in rain or snow?

So last night, I took advantage of a lull in a rain storm to take out the garbage. I do not wear shoes at home (ever) so I stepped out barefoot, walking in the cool/cold puddles to the trash bin in my apartment complex. Suddenly a massive hail storm let loose. It was really coming down hard (lucky I was wearing a cap). I had to walk back to my apartment barefoot over the hail. The bits weren't all that large, but they were cold and crunchy to walk on.

It felt really interesting -- like stepping into an icy cold mountain spring in the spring, but with an added crunchy sensation. It was amazing.

I imagine walking barefoot in snow must feel similar.

Does anyone have similar experiences?

I love to walk barefoot in the rain, but not in the snow. It is way too cold for me.

Snow can be different. New fallen powder snow is wonderfully soft underfoot! Anyone who isn't afraid of coldness should try walking barefoot on fresh snow.

As snow gets older, it becomes harder and crunchy. Under some conditions the ice crystals can even becomes sharp enough to cut your skin, so watch out.

Most people can only enjoy it a few minutes before it gets too cold. Best warm yourself up well beforehand, for example by taking a hot bath or sauna. And don't stay in the snow too long to prevent painful frost damage!

Going barefoot is one of the joys of life. It almost always feels good, and sometimes it's fun to be totally counter-cultural. I have never been barefoot in hail, but I can imagine what it's like. I have tried going barefoot in snow, and personally, I didn't like it because I was worried about frostbite the whole time. But I can imagine hail would be okay. My personal favorite weather is cold and dry...

I like to go barefoot always, everywhere. I don't mind my feet getting wet since bare skin dries in minutes when I get back indoors, but I don't like rain in general. I have no car so I have to bike everywhere and/or stand around waiting for the train... my hair & clothes stay wet *lots* longer than my bare feet, raincoats are stuffy, wet umbrella's drip all over everything... Barefooting is great but rain is not!

If you're barefoot in the snow for about ten seconds its exhilarating. After more than 20 seconds it begins to hurt. And then your toes turn blue. And then you can get frost bite, like a lot of soldiers got in Korea during WW 2.

Thats how my Uncle Victor lost some toes.

I walked barefoot out in snow to get my mail. It felt great going out but had to get back fast as my feet were going numb.

i was at a party and had been dancing all night in a pair of high heels and took them off to walk to my car down the block.as i was walking it started to drizzle and then began to pour.it felt good to feel the cool rain on my body and it i liked the way the grass and mud felt under my feet as i crossed a field to get to my car.
