do you have pcos? or just IR and hypothyroidism? i have pcos and IR comes along with that. i currently am not taking any meds for it because i just found out i have it, i have done a lot of research and found a few things to be very helpful. there are the choice of herbs, medications, and i know there are some "thin Cysters" as they call them (women with pcos who are thin),but if you are a bit heavier like me there is also the choice of diet and exercise. I have read that a low glycemic diet is best for IR, it helps balance your blood sugar and kicks your cells back into gear to make better use of the insulin. also a few herbs that i found to be helpfull are cinnamon, chromium piccolate, isoitols, and a few others. look up pcos herbs. there will be a list of herbs there that help with IR, and others that help with just pcos. but its a good place to start looking. oh and a medication that would help with IR is metformin, look it up and if it seems right for you ask your doctor about it. Its made for diabetics but has been used with women with pcos AND ir. good luck and i hope this helps some. sorry i couldnt post any links, i couldnt remember wich ones i got this info from, i do have a book called ' what if the doctor says its pcos" great book, it also has a chapter on IR in there.
