Why is it that Pepsi is becoming a more popular choice than Coca-Cola?

It seems to me that i see pepsi at places alot more than coke.

Example - Pizza stores

When we occasionally order pizza twice a month tops, it seems every place we order from only has pepsi. Why?

Update:

I guess the second answerer is right.

Pepsi does look better, but probably because of Cokes very few logo designs and its dis-memerable taste.

After me saying all of that, you would think i liked Pepsi better. I hate pepsi, but i love coke.

Update 2:

I've never thought about the price factor, but i doubt it. Like the thinking

Working in the restaurant business, I have always heard that Pepsi products are cheaper. It makes sense because just about every restaurant you go to sells their fountain drinks for about $2 (at least around here they do). If it costs the restaurant 7 cents for every glass of Coke versus 4 cents for every glass of Pepsi, then that makes it more profitable for the restaurant to sell Pepsi. I know you're thinking, "Wow, that's only 3 cents difference...", but keep in mind that one box of syrup makes about 300 or so glasses (and that's if the actual glass size is 22 oz. Fill that with ice and you only get about 13 oz of soda. Most restaurants start out with 12-16 oz glasses, which means after adding the ice, you're paying $2 for about 8 oz of soda. Using this logic, we can assume one box of syrup makes 300-500 glasses).

    Now for the math part:

Profit from one glass of Coke = $1.93

Profit from one glass of Pepsi = $1.96

Total profit from one box of Coke syrup (profit from one glass times 300 and 500) = $579 - $965

Total profit from one box of Pepsi syrup = $588 - $980

So if the store goes through 2 boxes of syrup per month, the profit for the year is:

    Coke (box of syrup profit times 24 [2 boxes a month times 12 months]) = $13,896 - $23,160

    Pepsi = $14,112 - $23,520

There isn't much of a difference between the cost of the two, but when it comes to running a business, every little bit counts.

DISCLAIMER: I don't know the true cost of Pepsi vs. Coke, but just about every glass of soda you buy costs the company about 8 cents to make. I just arbitrarily picked 7 cents and 4 cents as an example to show the difference in the profit.

With all that being said, I only occasionally drink a Sprite when I have a stomach ache. Before I cut sodas out of my diet, I was a die hard Dr. Pepper fan. Coke was okay, but I never liked Pepsi. It was too...bubbly...and it burned...and it tasted flat compared to Coke... I don't really know why, but I just didn't like it!

Well, I dont drink soda, and havent in nearly 3 years, but i do know the answer to this one...Pepsi is cheaper, Costco recently stopped selling Coke in most if not all their stores due to the price, Coca-cola was unwilling to lower prices and help the consumers out, so they stopped buying their product...when i was a soda drinker, pepsi was my number one choice, and my guess is that its cheaper. It might also have to do with demand in your area, Maybe Pepsi focuses alot more advertising in your area then coke does...its all money though.

Many food businesses make deals to only sell from one company. Some will pick one because the price is better, others will pay more if they think it will get them more customers.

The "Pepsi Challenge" convinced Coke that they were in trouble. Enough so that they created 'New Coke'. It was such a dismal failure that they went back to the 'Classic' Coke (the one that lost the challenge in the first place.

I only drink sodas rarely, but I prefer Pepsi when I do.

Pepsi tastes/looks better. Coke to me seems older and classic, like vintage or something. When I drink it too, it feels old. It's a psychological thing, that's why Pepsi is becoming more popular.

Pepsi always taste better and not so much gas. However after joining the Life extension foundation ,i gave up on fizzy soft drinks which are bad for health and instead drink green tea or black tea or white tea or even yerbe mate from South America which Che use to drink like other Argentina's do.Green tea is same plant as oolong tea but is hardly processed at all in comparison so is naturally healthy ,supports strong nerves and is also having anti-caner ingredients inside..Really fantastic..Sugar makes taste better but I use better stuff-honey.Feel great age 80..

In the United states it is because they offer a wider variety of drinks but I travel globally and in most other nations pepsi is hard to find especially in South Korea and the Philippines.
