Do Camcorders work in all countries?

This might seem a silly question but I am wanting to buy an expensive camcorder (probably the Canon S100) for around $800.

Will it make a difference if I buy it in the USA and bring it to the UK? A lot of the models refer to NTSC camcorders but does this even matter for todays LCD and Plasmas screens?

I guess in short - if I connect a NTSC compatible camcorder into a LCD TV in Europe - will it still play?

Please help.

NTCS and PAL (Europe) refer to way screens display images (put simply). Another way of thinking about it is to think about the lines per screen (NTSC is 480 lines of resolution and 30 images per second while PAL is 576 lines of resolution at 25 images per second). In theory, the images on your camera are just data, so they would play on either system. But this acmera will record at 30 fps, so the main problem is playback at 25 fps (frames per second). Also, the correspondnig cables you will need to run this data (video and audio) may not fit the screens overseas. I would talk to your vendor about a converter, as this may be the best way to handle your situation.
