I work two jobs and already have one W2 form and am waiting on the second. can I go ahead and file the first?
one that I have and then when I get my second W2 file it at a later time, or do I have to wait till I have both forms to file at the same time? Also who is the best/cheapest online electronic software to use? the only ones that I know of is Turbotax and Taxact. I think I usually use Taxact, but if anyone knows of a better program I'm all ears. Thanks

You need to wait until you have all W2 forms. All Tax documents should be post marked on or before 01/31/2010. Try TAXACT.COM Federal is free state wil have a small fee. Be sure to give your email address and you will receive updates with status of return. Return refunds are usually deposited in bank acct within 10 business days.

Far too many times I have had to help someone file a 1040X for the second W-2 and they were just in tears because the 2nd W-2 caused them to OWE money. And if it's after 4/15 when you file, you can owe penalties and interest as well.
Your tax bill and credits are based on your total income. Filing with just half of your income gums everything up. If the IRS realizes what you did, they can hit you with an accuracy penalty. (And, duh, it's not 2/15 yet, so you can't claim you forgot you were getting it.)

Although not recommended you could file with the w2 you have now and then file a 1040x amended return, you will need to mail that form in can't do it E-File but if you use any of the major tax prep people you can come back to your session and file the 1040x amended return...and almost all of them have a free file option now..you can go ahead and send in the 1040x amended return when you get the other w2 but the IRS doesn't start taking amended returns til Feb 18th...hope this helps

No. They must all be filed together. Even if you did file one of the alone, which is illegal, you would not be able to go back and file the other one separately later; you would need to "amend" what you had already filed, and you cannot amend electronically, so you would need to do it with paper documents, which is a big pain.

you are able to no longer report your tax return till you have ALL W-2s in hand. in case you leap the gun you will could report an amended return. once you do this simply by lacking W-2s you very regularly could PAY once you report the amended return. do no longer mess with issues, wait for the lacking W-2s till now you report. in case you have already jumped the gun, do no longer spend ANY of the refund while it arrives. you will choose some or all of it to pay the bill once you report the amended return! as long as you report the amended return and pay the stability due through April fifteenth there in basic terms is not any effects or pastime due.

No, you cannot file multiple returns. You file ONE return with ALL W-2s included. Be patient.
