How do you rotate a house 90 degrees?

I'm thinking about buying a small house, a salt box, and renovating it to be more energy efficient. One of the most basic ideas of a passive solar design is to have long side (the front) facing south to maximize exposure to the sun. I'm sure this could be done with a crane, the way they move modular homes. Its a Timber frame structure, so its fairly ridged. Is there any other way this could be done?

Update:

well, thats the thing. If it takes a crane, its not worth it. Its a timber frame, and doesnt have a modern foundation (ie its on a dry laid, stacked stone foundation) so it would be easy to jack/lift. All I would have to do is disconnect the water line, septic, power, and then just spin'er around. Easy right? I'm just pondering really, thanks for the help.

Yes, it can be done. (House Movers in the yellow pages) I have a funny feeling that the cost of "turning" your house will be 3-4 times more than what money that you save on heat. Good luck with it.

Why don`t you seriously think about buying a house that already faces south? By the time you lift, rotate , and have all your utilities reconnected, you will need to make your house so efficient that unless it cost nothing in energy for the next 20-30 years, you will have wasted your money turning the house sideways. Buy the lot , tear down the house and build a new energy efficient home
