How much of a drumstick is meat, by weight?

The store is having a great sale on chicken drumsticks, and I'm thinking of picking some up. I want to compare prices for what is actually eatable, vs meat without bone, but have no idea how much of the weight of a drumstick is meat, and how much is bone, skin, and gristle.

I would also like to know the same thing about leg quarters - drumstick & thigh.

I allow 2 drums per person, (2 portions) or 1 leg, (2 portions)

I would allow 25% for skin and bone, there is little gristle on drums, and a little more fat on the thighs.

I find the value of legs far outweighs the cost of breast, and have far more flavour, particularly when they are cooked on the bone.

I would say 25 to 30 per cent of the drumstick is bone.
