Microsoft Excel Help?

Everytime I use excel, when I use the letter "e" next to another number it multiplies it by 2.71 is there a way that I can just keep it the letter "e"

    "E" refers to a special number that has the value 2.71. Like "Pi" refers to 3.14....

    The easiest way to keep Excel from doing "math" on a cell that you want to stay letters and numbers is to format that cell as text. You can do that by beginning the entry in the cell with a ' (apostrophe). Just like beginning a cell with an = tells Excel to perform a math function on the cell, beginning it with an ' tells it to treat the entry as "text" and not convert it in any way.
