Cant lift left arm. Extreme shoulder pain. Whats wrong?
I have started to work out recently and been doing push-ups everyday. Last night I did a few but did not notice the pain till about 3 hours later. When I woke up this morning the pain was even worse. Now I can barely lift my arm. There is an extreme amount of pain right at the top of my left shoulder. I can bend my elbow and my forearm but I can only lift my arm a few inches until the pain starts in my shoulder. Did I do something or pop something?

"Frozen Shoulder" most definitely does exist, as health care systems like the Mayo Clinic endorse it as a real syndrome. But, the onset is typically more gradual than an overnight type of development. You could have definitely injured something at the joint, i.e. a ligament, tendon, bursa, etc. I would get to your doctor and find a diagnosis for what's going on. You really don't want to mess with shoulder pain. Also, lay off on the push-ups. Obviously, you can't do them right now, but in general you want to be careful about working the same sets of muscles day after day. Yes, push-ups work lots of muscle groups, but just make sure you are supplementing with an exercise that activates the "opposite" muscles.

I seem to think that you have overstrained / oversprained your arm joint !
Sometimes these things are easy to do , because we are so enthusiastic for results when
exercising. Like getting of a bicycle , you may have gone too far and you will immediately feel
it. Ignore it and later really pay for it.
With any exercise ....you may work out very fast and hard , but you must have expert tuition
to measure out how many you should do per day , and when you can add more..kind of gradually.
Imagine if all football players took it upon themselves for instance for training.
The amount of injuries ..... we would have no team to play the games !!!!
So, unless somebody is paying you ...take it easier and slower on yourself, in the meantime
go have a little check up , and gradually introduce your routine... get more information and
see how you go... that is once you have been given the all clear by a doctor.

I wish I had this 2 years ago when I damaged my rotator cuff while showing off. This is very detailed and really gives you the techniques you need to sort out your own shoulder issues and a lot more info such as preventing further injuries. If you have a shoulder keeping you awake at night you'll know it's no laughing matter.

A frozen shoulder, first poster? Are you in the 3rd grade? There is no such thing as a frozen shoulder. lol
Sweety, what you've done is strained your shoulder because your not used to exercising.
You need to go see a doctor and have an ex-ray taken to make sure it's not something else, and to possible get therapy for it. I'm not even joking about the therapy part either.
If it's not treated the right way, you could cause serious, permanent damage.

Ask someone to give a massage to you.
This has happen to me before when i started working out lifting dumbbells.

follow this method for 5 days.. you will be alright..

You could of injured your rotar cuff of your shoulder,you should go see a Dr.regarding this.Tomb Raider.
