Just made a chunky veg soup and I have some left over roast pork shoulder, can I combine the two?

Update:

Thanks everyone, it sounded like it should be ok, but never heard of anyone doing it with pork (porbably because it's too yummy for leftovers!!)

have the soup as a starter then use one of these recipes for the pork as a small main dish

Leftover roast pork whether from the belly, shoulder or any other joint is a blessing. It is so delicious and versatile, soon you’ll be roasting more pork than you need, just so you can use it up in lots of delicious different ways.

Shred up leftover pork, dress with a little salt, pepper, oil and vinegar and pop in a crusty roll for the ultimate US style pulled pork sandwich. Try it with some hot mustard, crispy lettuce and juicy tomato.

Chop up leftover pork and stir it into a home-made tomato ragu to make the best lasagne sauce. Layer the sauce up with layers of pasta and white sauce, topping with grated cheese for the ultimate leftovers lasagne!

Mince leftover pork and mix with cold mashed potato, a few chopped herbs and mix together with an egg. Shape into little cakes, flatten down with your hand to make a rissoles, and fry gently in a non-stick pan until hot through.

Chop up leftover pork, mix with a little tomato sauce, ground cumin, and chilli and spread out in a baking dish. Top with mashed potato and a sprinkle of grated cheese, then bake in a hot oven til hot through for a fantastic chilli pork shepherd’s pie.

Chop the pork into pieces and give them a quick fry, deglaze the pan, and add to the soup. That should add an almost bacon like flavour.

I would have used that with carrots, onions and celery all sauteed to begin, as the 3 veggies are essential to get a good stock to begin the soup with.

    Then add everything else.
