Epicureanism:
Epicurus in c.300 BC, Athens. unknown A deistic sort of polytheism: the gods exist, but take no notice of humans. Materialism: everything is made of atoms, including gods and the soul. No afterlife. The soul dissolves when the body dies. Pursue the highest pleasures (friendship and tranquility) and avoid pain. Letters and Principal Doctrines of Epicurus
Taoism
Lao-Tzu, c. 550 BC, China. 20 million
(394 million adherents of Chinese religion) Pantheism - the Tao pervades all. Yin-yang - opposites make up a unity. Purpose is inner harmony, peace, and longevity. Acheived by living in accordance with the Tao. Revert back to state of non-being, which is simply the other side of being. General attitude of detachment and non-struggle, "go with the flow" of the Tao. Tai-chi, acupuncture, and alchemy to help longevity. Tao Te Ching, Chuang-Tzu
Wicca (I think this one sounds hot - "If it harms none, do what you will." and there's dancing singing cakes, wine beer no text to study)
Based on ancient pagan beliefs, but modern form founded early 1900s. Founder generally said to be Gerald Gardner. 1-3 million Polytheism, centered on the Goddess and God, each in various forms; also a belief in a Supreme Being over all "If it harms none, do what you will." Reincarnation until reach the Summerland Prayer, casting a circle, Drawing Down the Moon, reciting spells, dancing, singing, sharing cakes and wine or beer No sacred text; foundational texts include The Witch Cult in Western Europe and The God of the Witches
Atheism (a religion of sorts)
Appears throughout history (including ancient Greek philosophy), but especially after the Enlightenment (19th cent). 1.1 billion (this figure includes agnostic and non-religious, which tend to be grouped on surveys) There is no God or divine being. Beliefs about the universe usually based on latest scientific findings. Since there is no afterlife, this one life is of great importance. Only humans can help themselves and each other solve the world's problems. none none Influential works include those by Marx, Freud, Feuerbach, and Voltaire. First off, choosing a religion because you like it is kinda off the wall. Choosing it because you think it's true is a more traditional method.
If that's what we're going for, we need to find the religion that has the least restrictions on fun. What are some fun things that religions tend to restrict?
- Sex/romance
- Alcohol
- Weed
- Eating the food you like (beef/pork)
- Wearing the clothes you like
- Having free time (through requiring fasting/praying/sleeping at certain times)
Let's evaluate how some of the major religions handle these. I'll give one point for each category. Most points wins.
Evangelical Christianity - 4 points
- Sex: no sex outside of marriage (not so bad if your spouse is hot, but sucks otherwise) - 0.5
- Alcohol: some sects say no alcohol - 0.5
- Weed: most say no weed - 0
- Food: usually no food restrictions - 1
- Clothing: usually no clothing restrictions - 1
- Free Time: very minor free time restrictions (sunday church) - 1
Catholicism - 4 points
- Sex: same as evangelical, although they do tend to tolerate premarital sex more. Also, they have sex with little boys. - 0.5
- Alcohol: haha the opposite of restriction here. - 1
- Weed: No weed. - 0
- Food: good most of the time, but Lent sucks and there are days they don't eat meat like Fish Friday or something. - 0.5
- Clothing: good. - 1
- Free time: I hear mass is worse than church, but overall still good. - 1
Islam - 0 points
- Sex: extremely restrictive, although apparently if a woman misbehaves it's appropriate to rape her on the spot. - 0
- Alcohol: no. - 0
- Weed: no. - 0
- Food: terrible, you have to fast for Ramadan and they're under the Abrahamic restrictions. - 0
- Clothes: if you're a woman, you wear a bed sheet. if you're a man, you wear the bed sheet on your head. - 0
- Free time: awful, you have to pray at 5 rigid times a day, other obligations, pilgramages expected, etc. - 0
Buddhism - 3.5
- Sex: pretty free, unless you're a monk. - 1
- Alcohol: ok in moderation. - 1
- Weed: same. - 1
- Food: vegetarian in most cases. - 0
- Clothing: rules against perfumes and ornaments, not sure how strictly this is followed. - 0.5
- Free time: expected to spend a lot of time meditating, etc. - 0
Hinduism - 4 points
- Sex: Two words - kama sutra. Actually, conservative Hindu proponents have made sex somewhat taboo in India despite the fact that it's explicitly referenced in their Scriptures. Some Hindus advocate sexual freedom while others claim it's taboo before marriage. - 0.5
- Alcohol: allowed but frowned upon. - 0.5
- Weed: used by some sects to honor Shiva. Sounds like a great way to honor a god if you ask me. - 1
- Food: no beef. - 0
- Clothing: pretty much whatever. - 1
- Free time: anything goes. - 1
So it's a tie:
Evangelical Christianity - 4
Catholicism - 4
Hinduism - 4
Buddhism - 3.5
Islam - 0

Why don't you just stay an ungodly sinner and go to hell? That way you won't have to worry about sin.
if you don't believe the Bible then don't call yourself a Christian. A Christian is a follower of Christ and God's Word. God would rather you be on fire for him than lukewarm and unbelieving.

I do believe that would be the church that worships the Fonz as started by Peter Griffin

Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster. For example, in the Commandments instead of "thou shalt not" there's "I really wish you wouldn't". Followers are called Pastafarians.

There is no right or wrong answer... I am a Christian but I don't try to convert or ''preach'' and there are numerous parts of the Bible that I don't agree with but I can still have fun :-)
