replace car computer with home computer?

mechanic say car computer broke. if i put home computer under hood and close will it work?????

    no, two totally different types of computers.you need the prom inorder to run the engine and transmission systems

    Yes it will. A home computer has 10 times the computing power as even the most complex car computer. Just get an inverter and plug the computer into it.

    First, get a second opinion. It's been my experience that most vehicle computers are replaced as a last resort, when the actual problem eludes their diagnosis. If it turns out to be a shorted or defective PCM, call around your local salvage yards and see if they have one - it will cost you significantly less.

    Your home computer will not work - unless, perhaps, you can get Bill Gates to program it for you and add the necessary interface.

    Definitely will NOT work as the car computer is built and programmed specifically to run a car, while a home comp. is much too large, and knows very little about running cars.
