Can poppies be grown indoors?
Would I be able to grow papaver somniferum (Opium poppies) or papaver nudicaule (Iceland poppies) indoors in a flower pot or a flower box? Or would it be possible to grow them outdoors at this time of year? If they can be grown indoors, would I be able to transplant them into my garden at some point?

Poppies do not like to be transplanted a little bit! The only ones that tolerate it are the perennial varieties.
I've tried it several times and they just will not tolerate it. I've tried disturbing them as little as possible by planting all the dirt around them in a larger hole and the little buggers just won't accept it. They grow so quickly from seed that it's not really an issue.
And poppies require so much light to do well it would be difficult in an indoor setting anyhow.

I am not sure your poppies and papaver rhoeas
are growing in the same manner or not.
Papaver rhoeas can grow in a fresh-air greenhouse.
She can bloom in any pot, but she needs plenty of water supply.
When outdoor weather is warm enough, you can set her out
but not in the wind.
She can be transplanted to the garden when the weather
starts to cool down.
Happy growing...

The opium poppy is diverse style diverse from the decorative varieties. The opium style is likewise a taller plant than the only they strengthen for seeds. each so often, I study in the papers the law enforcement officials learning the diverse pink and white blossomed opium poppy growing in a backyard. The little previous woman that replaced into growing them had them for 20 years and by no potential knew. The narcotica is modern in all poppys yet in simple terms commercially targeted adequate in the opium style.

insitu is the word you are looking for, it means this plant likes it's seed planted right where it is going to grow. The trick to growing anything inside is the light needed and most of the time, if they do not sell something in your local nursery, it will not grow inside. Almost all flowers need lots of sunshine, not indoor light and they will grow from seed, but will get very long and spindly and then will fall over, because they are reaching for more light, and they will not grow to full maturity and bloom.
