Data recovery from a flash drive?
I have a 4GB Gizmo flash drive containing a large number of photos. Apparently due to a malfunction in the drive itself, it is no longer recognized by the computer when inserted into a USB port. I have tried two of the freeware data recovery programs available on line with negative results. I am willing to spend a reasonable amount to recover the photos but not a fortune as would be the case if sent to a professional. Anyone have any suggestions?
I have tried inserting the drive prior to a start-up but the computer still fails to recognize it. Have also tried it in all 4 USB slots available as well as in another computer.
Excuse me but, did you read the last sentence?
Kristy - tried that program but no luck, the hang-up is that the computer doesn't recognize the drive when its inserted... so it can't be scanned.
Top chap - thanks but the same problem was encountered. The computer won't recognize the drive so it seems none of the programs can help. Support at your site suggested that I contact the manufacturer of the drive but I had already done that.

try the software recommended by this site http://www.getdeletedfilesback.com/index1.html as apart from file recovery, it also provides an option when starting to recover a drive with a missing or corrupt drive letter.... it might pick it up in your case (maybe!)
good luck
