What does this mean? How would you explain this statement?

I always think of that line as the motto of "Naked Lunch." You have to read it.

This is a Thelemic Question, which tells me who you are.
Nothing is true is about the fact that TRUTH is subjective. I'll jump right is the shallow water before I get too deep.
When Obi-Wan told Luke Skywalker that his father had been killed, it was truth, from a certain point of view. Our parents, Priests, and politicians tell us many things that are only true from a certain point of view (Okay politicians just lie!) (Okay so they all lie a bit) so much so that "nothing is true" becomes the rule rather than the exception and the fact is that even this is not true. TRUTH is gained through self knowledge and then you have the truth. As soon as you try to convey this truth to others as their truth, it becomes less true. "Everything is Permitted" is also not true but Thelemites and Pagan like to say it because it scares the excrement out of the Christians which may be fun but not spiritually productive.

truth is perception,
truth differs from individual to the next
thus there is no Absolute truth!
everything is permitted :
we're bound by our own ethics and morals (and alas also society's)!
everything is permitted is a prompt
to broaden the picture and allow yourself
room to experiment instead of just sticking to normal response!!

Truth is only that which you allow to be, that which you believe to be and that which you know to be.
Heh, or something of the like.
