    Graph 3x + 12 = 0

    1) Solve for x

    3x + 12 = 0

    Subtract 12 from both sides

    3x = - 12

    Divide both sides by 3

    x = - 4

    2) Now graph the line x = - 4

    For all values of y, x = - 4

    That means that this is a line going straight up (and down), parallel to the y axis, and crossing the x axis back at - 4.

    3x+12=0

    3x+12-12=0-12

    3x+0=-12

    1/3 ● 3x = -12 ● 1/3

    1x = -12/3

    x = -4

    Hope I helped :-)
