What happens when I call 911?
well i havent ever in my life used it
-i just want to know what would happen if i called
-what if i didnt talk to the answerer because i was confronted by some crook but i dialed 911
-would they be able to mark my position as a distress call?

If you called and didn't talk, then they would listen for any sounds of distress. If you continued to not answer, they would probably send an officer to your house at low priority. If they heard signs of distress they would send an officer high priority lights/sirens. If you called, didn't say anything and hung up, they would call you back. If you didn't answer, the same thing would happen as above.
Yes, most 911 centers will instantly have your location once you call.

If you are lucky enough to grab 911 if a crook breaks into your home, then you won't be lucky enough to survive for 10 minutes until the cops arrive.
