Thoughts on Bad Company 2 demo?

I played for the first time today and I thought to myself this is what modern warfare 2 should have been. So far it seems like a much better game and I can't wait to get the full version. Unlike MW2 I don't feel like people get cheap kills 99% of the time. What do you guys think so far??

In all honesty, I was a huge fan of BC1, then I played MW1, then tried BC1 again and was not a big fan of it anymore. The more controllable, natural and realistic feel of MW1 was missing in BC1. This being said, I was really hoping for BC2 to be an improvement to look forward to. Unfortunately, I was not impressed at all by the BC2 demo. KEEP IN MIND that my opinions are based solely on my experience with this demo (I have obviously not played the final version) Here's a list of my compliments and gripes:

    Compliments:

    1. Huge maps

    2. Can long range snipe

    3. Snipers can blend in with environment more easily (obviously I'm a sniper lol)

    4. Vehicles give game more variety

    5. Honestly, most of what you liked from BC1 is still in this game (explosions, etc.)

    Gripes:

    1. Graphics are miserable for a sequel (more like BC1.25)

    2. Everything is choppy and doesn't feel and look natural

    3. Environment is no more destructive than that of BC1

    4. Sniping takes 2 shots to kill somebody unless head shot (I get it, "then shoot him in the head" right?, but it's so frustrating when you nail a moving target hundreds of yards away and he doesn't die and you don't get credit for the kill because you have to cock the rifle and he's behind cover by the time you can aim down the scope again, it's a sniper rifle!! If you get shot with it, you're screwed!!)

    5. Maps aren't as big as they seem (because you have to blow up crates before you can press on)

    6. Lack of customization (it's annoying I can't choose what weapon combination I want, everything is preset)

    7. Same weapons from BC1, no new weapons, NO NEW WEAPONS, SOMEWHERE BETWEEN 0-NO NEW WEAPONS ARE AVAILABLE!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    8. Player feels clunky and uncoordinated, not natural

    9. Unrealistic amount of bullets necessary to kill somebody (shouldn't have to unload a full pistol clip from 10 ft away to kill somebody)

    10. Lame and repetitive environments (example, every room or building is empty and basically the same)

    11. Explosions and destruction is repetitive and not very realistic (very little improvement from BC1, example, all wall explosions are the same)

    12. Everything looks so grainy, edgy, and generally not smooth at all (DICE, EA, everybody else responsible, YOU MUST FIX THIS, IT'S CRAPPY TO LOOK AT)

    13. Constant lagginess (looking down the sights or scope at a far away moving target, the opponent will surprisingly often skip about 5 ft ahead of where he should be while running)

    14. In general, crappy crappy very sub par and unrealistic gameplay

There's probably more I can think of that I didn't like, but that's most of it. If you loved BC1 and wouldn't change anything about it, then this game is so for you and I hope you enjoy it. In all honesty, I REALLY want to like this game, I'm always looking for a great FPS, they don't make enough great military FPS. But the best way to describe BC2 from what I've played of this demo, is "a recycled 1.25 version of BC1". I beg DICE to fix these issues (especially the grainy nasty graphics COME ON!!) because I want to look forward to this game. I'm also fully aware that this was just a demo and there may be more weapons, better graphics, etc. in the real game. However, if the demo is a sign of what's to come, then without some pretty major necessary changes, not just some "tweaks", this game will be a disappointing sequel.

    7/10

I love it. I was a huge fan of BF:BC1 because of vehicles and the crate objectives keeping the action on one area at a time. What the previous answerer is complaining about can easily be attributed to the fact that this is a DEMO!!! and not the full game. I was browsing the menus and looking at the unlocks that will be available later and there are a lot of combinations that can be used. So far I've unlocked the 2nd assault rifle, shot gon, and laser homing device. I can't wait to get the full game and be able to unlock the artillery strikes for the sniper. I was happy to see that they got rid of the strong SMG's which was one of my biggest complaints about BC1.. an UMP being as strong and as accurate as a M16 with a higher fire rate. I am also happy that they have made assaulting the crates easier, the defenders always seemed to have a better advantage in the original BC. Now, when you destroy the crates the reenforcement stats go back to full instead of only a partial refill. It sucked in the original when you destroyed both crates an you only got a 20% refill just to get slaughtered at the next set of crates. I wish the demo had a attack helicopter for the attackers, but they at least get tanks while the defenders get helis but only light armor. As far as the previous answer's complaint about the sniper not getting a head shot everytime, at least there isn't regenerative health so even if you don't get a head shot the 1st time just a good hit the 2nd time will take them out. I also like the fact that explosions throw off the balance of the players making easy shots while bombs are going off all around. I've also had a building fall down on me.
