Contact with the dead.?

I went to a party and a psychic was invited as entertainment I guess. She had all sorts of info about my family & claimed to be getting the infor from my deceased Grandmother. Could this be real?

Update:

She said details, not vague things at all...names, places...conversations I had with people. It was freaky. I didnt give her any reaction b/c I didnt want to feed her stuff and also b/c I was really taken aback. In fact, she said stuff like "Theres a woman named Lil." and I shook my head no and it wasnt until I was driving home that it hit me! I was freaked out a little. It kinda changed my scientific mind a bit and now I feel open to the possibility......even tho I need more proof. I wont do ouji boards bc of my religion but I am curious about them. I kinda doubt a board game could be the window to the dead. lol Why not monopoly or life? the latter seems more appropo, no? lol

I understand your heartache (and so does God), but I urge you not to pursue this path. The Bible warns us against having anything to do with someone "who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead" (Deuteronomy 18:11).

Why is this? The main reason is because you could become involved with occult spiritual forces that are not from God but actually from Satan and opposed to God. From time to time, I receive letters from people who've gone down this road, only to find themselves spiritually oppressed by occult powers. In some instances, they even turn against God and accuse Him of being the source of all their problems. They've forgotten the Bible's warning that Satan "leads the whole world astray" (Revelation 12:9).

Instead, I urge you to turn to the living God, who alone can bring true comfort and hope to your heart. God loves you; He loves you so much that He sent His only Son into the world to die for your sins. And someday all those who put their faith and trust in Him will enter His presence forever.

Jesus said, "Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted" (Matthew 5:4). His promise is true—and you can know His comfort today, by asking Him to come into your life. Don't go down a false path, but open your heart to Jesus Christ today.

No. People are trained to make random comments at first during a psychic session, and then watch your reactions. Skilled ones know when you hear something that is true, and then they'll build off of those things. Getting kind of detailed but always staying vague is the creed of these psychics, because they know everyone will interpret it differently.

    Example:

"Your father was a strong man." You make the slighted twitch of the mouth, and they notice: "He works in a hard business, and your grandmother is very proud of him." You twitch a bit more and wonder why they are mentioning your late grandma, so they continue: "I am speaking to your grandmother right now." Gasp on your part! "She is content with your family's life, and she is always watching." You are flabbergasted! She must be magical, to know that much!

After one of these experiences, try to remember what they actually said and how much they could have figured out from what you tell them, from stereotypes, or what you are wearing. You will be surprised.

No, she was doing what is called cold reading, where she spits out random and general facts and observes what you say and your facial responses to lead you on. Psychics have been scamming people with this for years. If you really want to see if its real, have a psychic tell you facts about you without you saying a word, with a blank stare. Otherwise its all a show, especially from a psychic that comes to a party.

It could be. You have to be very careful though and rethink what she said. Was she speaking general terms and was she basing her answers and observations off of your reactions to her answers.

    additional content:

I have to say, it sounds as if she was real. You know in your soul if she is. I had a great aunt that would work for Scotland Yard back in the early 1900's that could locate dead bodies.

There are people in this world that do have talents that most of us do not possess and then again, there are those who wish they had the talent and prey upon the people that are innocent.

Your hired entertainment is a liar, and most that claim to be psychic do this for the public to gain profit.

There is something beyond our level of existence, but that is all I am saying.

well i like to keep an open mind to stuff like that, but a lot of those people are frauds and they use very vague details that could apply to anyone and people think that it related to them. sort of like that talk show with james praagh. but if she used really specific details that no one else knew then who knows she could be legit.

i remember i went to a physic once and without saying a word she knew a lot of stuff about me and it wasn't like random vague facts either.

It could be, but who knows for sure. If I were you though don't try it, Conjuring the dead is dangerous and could result with possession.
