Advice on second language please?

I am realizing that fluency in a second language would really help improve my career options (travel/ hospitality industry).

What I'd like is your opinions on which is more beneficial/ useful: Spanish or French (I live in Canada), and also I am interested to hear reasons for your opinions.

I do have some Spanish, but don't use it on a regular basis, but I could probably pick up what I've forgotten quite quickly in a refresher course, then hopefully improve on conversational Spanish.

French I have not taken in 15 + years - and my French level is what I'd call "cereal- box French", much better read than spoken.

Thanks in advance!

If you plan to remain in Canada, French will serve you better. Here in the Southwest, Spanish is vital. But if you want to communicate in any country, you might consider ASL (American Sign Language). Most signs remain the same in all countries.

If you're in Canada go for French, you'll use it more and it's good in case you ever want to work in Quebec ( you can't if you don't speak French) If you still want to learn Spanish after that it'll come very easily, as you have French

Chinese is apparently going to be a very useful language in business 10 years from now, when China becomes a world power. And you know Chinese tourists are taking over the world! Great for your sector (travel/hospitality industry).

learn German or Japanese- both of these groups have had the biggest increase in immigrants recently which will make their languages more valuable... Spanish and French are both good but just too common

spanish its a little harder than french, you live in canada then its easier to find french speakers, then i would choose french, french is spoken in france, switzerland, belgium, canada, and african, arabic and caribbian countries, also in french polynesia (tahiti)
