What is an Allopathic physician?

What do they do, do you have to specialize in something from that category or does it even have specialties? How many years of school do you need?

An allopathic physician is one trained in traditional Western medicine. In other words, he/she is a regular doctor that you'd see in the US or UK. The specialties are the ones you've heard about already.

The sole exception is DO's (osteopathic). They are quite similar to MD's with a few differences.
