(Yu-Gi-Oh!)If my opponent attacks me with Spirit Reaper and I have Gorz in hand, what happens?

I've got no field, and my opponent attacks me directly with Spirit Reaper (or a similar card like X-Saber Airbellum), forcing me to discard one card, but I have Gorz, the Emissary of Darkness in hand, so do I drop Gorz before or after Spirit Reaper's effect occurs?

If the card chosen randomly by Spirit Reaper's effect is Gorz, can I still Special Summon him by his own effect?

Do these answers also apply to a similar case, like X-Saber Urbellum?

And finally, if I have 4 cards in hand, and X-Saber Urbellum attacks me directly and deals damage, and I have Gorz, does Urbellum's effect still happen? (Because if Gorz' effect resolves first, I would no longer have 4 cards in hand for Urbellum's effect)

People have been "thumb's downing" the answers that are actually correct... what is going on here...?

Yes, you may activate the effect of Gorz when your opponent attacks with Spirit Reaper. It will resolve like this:

-Spirit Reaper attacks and deals damage.

-Spirit Reaper's effect will activate and you can Special Summon Gorz from your hand.

-After Gorz is summoned, Spirit Reaper will discard a card from your hand.

    Same goes with X-Saber Urbellum:

    -Urbellum attacks and deals damage

-Urbellum's effect activates, but you can still Special Summon Gorz from your hand.

-Since you no longer have 4 cards in your hand, Urbellum's effect resolves meaninglessly.

Here is proof from Yugioh Wikia, and I hope this helps.

When you take battle damage from "Spirit Reaper"/"Don Zaloog"/"Airknight Parshath"/etc, you can chain "Gorz the Emissary of Darkness"'s effect. He will Special Summon himself, and then you resolve the other effect.

As far as the Spirit Reaper question goes, you can still summon Gorz. As for the other question concerning Urbellum, I know you can still summon, but I have no clue if Urbellum's effect still activates. You ask some tough questions dude.

If your opponent inflicts battle damage to your Life Points with a monster like "Airknight Parshath" or "Spirit Reaper", you can activate the effect of "Gorz the Emissary of Darkness". The effect of your opponent's "Airknight Parshath" or "Spirit Reaper" will be Chain Link 1 and the effect of your "Gorz the Emissary of Darkness" will be Chain Link 2.

yes, you will still be able to summon gorz.

1.if your opponents attacks you with spirit reaper, forcing you to discard a card, you can chain with gorz's effect, so you will still be able to summon him. rulings-

2.samething with X-Saber Urbellum, it resolves in a chain, you chain with gorz, and then no longer have 4 cards in your hand, then you won't have to place a card to the top of the deck.
